well deserves the title "Jewel In The Reef". If you dream about blue lagoons and long white sandy beaches, Lizard Island is the paradise destination for you. Lizard Island is a State National Park with a resort lease and marine research station, and is one of our most popular tours. This eco-tour will be the highlight of your visit to North Queensland. The seaplane service is available to take campers and their equipment direct to the camping area on Lizard Island, from Cooktown. Flight time is only 30 minutes and the flight passes over the unique silica sandhills behind Cape Flattery and then over several coral reefs before landing on the water at Mrs Watson's Bay within 50 metres of the camp site.

Snorkelling Paradise......the best in the WORLD

Lizard Island is noteworthy for its history, and its world renowned snorkelling sites. The most stunning of these are the clam gardens at Mrs Watson's Bay on the north side of the island. You will have plenty of time to snorkel around the Reef and swim with the turtles, or just relax and take in the spectacular views. All the appropriate fees are included in this tour as well as free complimentary reef notes, and the in-flight commentary will add to the pleasure of this once-in-a-lifetime MarineAir visit to the Great Barrier Reef.

Sun and Sand, snorkelling and fishing

Captain James Cook first ventured into these unchartered reaches by necessity in 1770 - the last chance for a crew seeking freedom from the beautiful but deadly coral reefs of the Great Barrier Reef. Lizard Island promised these early travelers an unparalleled vantage point and a welcome source of fresh provisions. Some two centuries later, little has changed on Lizard. Lizard Island is Australia's northernmost island resort. It is located 240 kilometres north of Cairns and 92 kilometres north east off the coast from the remote township of Cooktown
